GAFHI's main area of focus is homelessness advocacy and support. Through a series of empowerment programs and human capital development, we will further implement and develop sustainable living communities, which fosters positive communication and promote actions and ideas that create friendly and harmonious living environments. GAFHI will be a relevant resource to help solve issues that are important to its community members at the ground level, as well as promoting their socio-economic well-being and future capacity building. Children suffer the most in poor economic times and when food resources are scarce. GAFHI believes that investing in the lives of children today with sound living principles will ensure a better future for tomorrow.
Permanent Housing projects implementation beginning January 2021. GAFHI’s plan for the citizens of Senegal is to develop its self-sufficient, self-contained, sustainable community housing compounds using the "Green Renewable Technology" of Centric LTD (www.centricltd.com) a pre-fab home manufacturer located in Seattle, WA. Centric's pre-fab housing technology has been tested and is greatly suited for the tropical environments in the developing world. Centric's housing kits are used for basic supportive housing structures and dormitories, among other applications. The community housing compounds will be developed to house the homeless populations and low income families. The compounds will allow the people to connect with supportive community-based resources that will help them maintain housing, provide for their long-term stability and help to alleviate poverty in the focused areas of each development and private complex.
GAFHI will create community food pantries for its community members to have access to enough food for an active, healthy life and for all household members. The food provided will be nutritionally adequate and safe. GAFHI's immediate plan is to develop new, innovative strategies to produce and distribute food within each community compound with the community members involved in the management and sustainability plan that uses principles from nature. The four areas of focus will be:
Each GAFHI community compound will have an onsite non-emergency medical facility staffed with trained nurses and a certified pharmacist to address minor health issues and have the ability to dispense prescription medicines to community members if deemed necessary after examination. GAFHI's licensed medical staff will handle basic care for community member patients, and should the need for "emergency" care arises, the staff would immediately make arrangements for patients to get to the nearest public hospital or public health clinic for more in-depth care.
Part of GAFHI's economic plan is to develop a large scale poultry business and an egg production farm. Chickens and eggs are a staple food item in Senegal with a very high demand, and supply is at a minimum. We will hire and train many community members and local citizens to run the daily operations of the farms. The workers will earn a higher living wage above the normal wage for the position in which they are employed. The well-paying jobs created by GAFHI will contribute significantly to the local economic landscape.
We plan to plant, cultivate and harvest climate-conducive crops of fresh produce to support the community housing compounds and sell the excess at the local produce markets. We will market a portion of the produce to local grocery retailers, restaurants, and local citizens in the surrounding regions.
